Since there is rarely too much space on the dance floor, learn the art of compact styling and how to redirect your favorite moves in a pinch. Learn to avoid dance traffic by playing with a variety of swing out angles on different slots, use strategic pauses in different places in your swing out or circle to simply hold your ground vs running over a fellow Lindy Hopper. Even lead some solo jazz moves to dance your way to another, less crowded place on the floor.<\/p>\n

\nFeaturing\u00a0Professor Cunningham and his Old School<\/a><\/p>\n

For our\u00a0November 2nd<\/strong>\u00a0Dance Party, we are featuring for the first time Professor Cunningham and his Old School
\nAdrian Cunningham is one of Australia’s finest jazz musicians and multi-instrumentalists, with countless club and festival appearances plus a number of highly acclaimed albums. Based in NYC since 2008, Adrian has been playing regularly in the Big Apple, throughout USA and Europe. In 3 short years he has appeared some of NYC’s finest clubs- Smalls, Birdland, 55 Bar, Fat Cat, the Apollo Theater, Dizzy’s (Lincoln Centre) and even a private event at the hallowed Village Vanguard; with such luminaries as Lew Soloff, Wycliffe Gordon, George Coleman Jr and Bucky Pizzarelli. Adrian has been performing regularly in NYC and internationally with world class trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, which included a performance at the London Jazz festival and a recording in Abbey Road Studios alongside Wess Anderson, Reginald Veal and Herlin Riley.<\/p>\n

His “Old School” group has been together since late 2012 and has performed at Boston Swing Central, Club Helsinki, Swingeasy (NYC), BABBLE, and its monthly residency at Radegast in Brooklyn. It’s focus is on the swinging tradition of New Orleans.<\/p>\n
